The Honchos
President: Linda Daniels (Blatchley)
Linda, a retired psychologist originally from Upstate New York has been an animal advocate for most of her life. She has volunteered at the Marion County Animal Shelter, fosters for the Humane Society of Marion County and for Poodle and Pooch Rescue, is a past board member of P.E.T.S. of Marion County, a member of Harley’s Heroes, and was instrumental in effecting legislation to end the retail sale of puppies in Marion County. She has been the event host for seminars in The Villages with the Humane Society of The United States. Additionally, Linda formed and is administrator for the Facebook page, “Pet Matches for Villagers and Area”. Linda lives in Summerfield with her husband, Terry Blatchley, and their 7 rescue dogs.
Treasurer: Terry Blatchley
Terry is acting treasurer as of 1/22/2021. He has been a life-long pet owner with an interest in saving lives of animals. In fact, he cannot even kill a spider! Terry supports the mission of FL CHAIN to the fullest extent, and will remain in his position until a permanent replacement is found. He lives in Summerfield with his wife and 7 horribly spoiled pups.
Karen initially became involved in animal advocacy in 2018 after finding herself an unwitting victim of an unethical backyard breeder (“puppy mill”) which was selling sick puppies. After spending thousands of dollars trying to save the life of her new puppy, she became a lynchpin for helping to change the laws in Marion County to protect animals and consumers from unscrupulous breeders. Karen has now made it her life’s mission to protect others from having to make the gut wrenching decision of putting a pet down due to the huge expense of trying to save their precious family member. She has developed and administers two Facebook pages, “Fourever Puppies Molly’s Mission” and “Belleview’s Animals Deserve a Difference” (AKA, “BADD”) whose purpose is to educate the public on responsible breeding and adoption.
Karen lives in Leesburg with her husband and three adorable pups.
Director of Outreach: Kathy Bork
Kathy has been a staple of Florida Chain, through her support and outreach. Kathy is a retired RN who lives in The Villages with her roomie and three precious (although somewhat weird!) doggos. She is the fearless leader of “Lost Pets of the Villages”. and works tirelessly with her band of merry rescuers to return lost animals to their loving homes. CHAIN thanks Kathy, et all, for their service and for their assistance with Florida Chain. We are proud to know them. It takes a Village!
Transportation Coordinator: Cheryl Lindsay
Cheryl has been an unparalleled addition to C.H.A.I.N. She brings many years of experience in the field of animal rescue and activism. Cheryl has devoted multiple hours to our organization, including fund raising, outreach to marginalized communities, food and animal transport, and event participation. We are thrilled to have her onboard. Welcome to the “C.H.A.I.N. GANG”!
Foster Coordinator: Kathleen Smith
Kathleen has a life-long history as a staunch animal advocate. She was raised on a farm, where she enjoyed many different species, and has been a certified pet sitter for 15 years. Kathleen has generously offered kennel space to displaced dogs as we get them ready for adoption. She never says “no” to helping a dog in need. In fact, she is a major “foster fail” for Grace, who came to CHAIN as a beautiful stray. Here she is with little VeeVee (The Princess) and Grace (shedder extraordinaire) in her lovely Summerfield home. Welcome to Florida CHAIN, Kathleen!
Communication and Fund raiser Specialist: Lynda Ogilvie
Lynda and her hubby, Lloyd, are the proud parents of “a few” pups. She has a huge heart for animals, offering to assist when a pet needs medical help or is lost and needs to be scanned in her Oak Run neighborhood. Lynda’s background in business is a welcome addition to CHAIN, and we thank her for her many contributions to the rescue world!
